Flower basket:

Materials needed:

Wooden basket - craft paint ( lilac, blue and green) - white glue -paint brush - your own black and white prints to decoupage - silk flowers.

Instructions:

Transform a plain wood basket into a pretty thing to display your favorite silk or dried flowers,  or use for any other purpose. Use a design that is inspired by your decor for a more unified look.

  1. Start by preparing your basket, paint it with a coat of diluted white glue. When dry paint it a color of your choice, here I used green. after it dries paint over it with diluted purple color, remove the excess paint while wet using clinging plastic so the green shows under the purple. This will give it a nice paint effect look.

  2. Using any type of printed paper ( wrapping paper, tissues, newspaper, a copy from a magazines or a print from your computer using a calligraphy font) tear the paper into irregular strips, don't use a scissor , you won't need a neat edge. stain your strips using thin blue and purple paint.

  3. Arrange the strips all around the basket so they would overlap showing the background color of the basket. Glue the strips in place using the white glue , then apply a coat of glue over the strips.

  4. When dry, give the whole basket another 2-3 coats of glue allowing to dry between coats, finish it with a coat of varnish to protect your work.

  5. Arrange your silk or dried flowers by sticking them in a piece of foam glued to the bottom of the basket, and enjoy the look of your arrangement all year long.
