Using color in your
house: |
|
Colors can
give your room a certain mood or atmosphere, and the
best and most fun way to introduce colors to your room
is using paints. Because paint covers a large area of
the room, choosing the right color for the effect you
want to get is important. Use reds and yellows to add
warmth to a room, or cool a sunny hot room using blues
and greens.
|
|
Choosing
the right tone makes a big difference to a room too, it
make rooms seem smaller or larger, brighter or darker
depending on how dark or light your color is, and the
way you apply it to your walls or ceilings.
(see how )
You don't
have to paint all walls, sometimes one wall painted in a
different color can make a very nice statement.
Paint-effects can give a room a whole new look too, and
it's easy to achieve once you know what to use and how
to use it. Also stripes, checks or blocks of colors on
the walls make them seem more interesting.

In the
picture above you can see how I transformed the look of
plain white walls using stripes of pink with red swirls
and stenciled border. This is the perfect way if
you are trying wall painting for the first time, or if
you are not very sure how much color you can live with
in your rooms. But don't let your fear stop you, be bold and
try new colors, you might surprise yourself and find out
that you love colors. And the nice part is, it's only
paint, if you don't like it just go over it again. So get
inspired and paint your walls, and join me in the next
issues to learn how to get the paint-effect looks
easily. |
